What design services do you provide?

Good Plans specialise in Residential design - new homes, alterations to existing houses as well as relocated dwellings (an excellent sustainability option) servicing the Palmerston North / Manawatu-Wanganui and Greater Wellington regions. Our primary focus is to simplify wherever possible. After 25+ years experience in the NZ building industry as a carpenter / inspector / designer, we’ve found that increased complexity often leads to unnecessary expense.
Who deals with the local Council?

Let us look after that for you. We will lodge the consent with Council and take care of any alterations or changes as needed, taking all the stress away from the process.
Can I bring my own design to use and am I able to I design my own floor plan?

Yes, we welcome your ideas if you’ve already put them into a floor plan layout. Please be aware, floor plan designs may look ok in 2D, but when the rooflines and site positioning are considered (as well as many other external factors) it often doesn’t gel together. This is where Good Plans can help!
Why do I need a floor plan?

A floor plan is one of the most helpful plans when it comes to designing a building or home. It shows the overall shape, size and dimensions of the exterior and interior walls of the home or building. This then translates into the features around the exterior of the home – how the driveway and entrances will sit, how we can get the most out of the sunlight, how any wind, surrounding trees, and external features will affect different aspects of the design, and how to get the best views.

At Good Plans we are actively up-skilling in the field of sustainable design, with the goal of creating comfortable, healthy, energy-efficient homes. We will work closely with you to incorporate energy efficient design into your project.
